Interbad 2021: Numerous opportunities for the industry despite corona

Boom in the wellness industry. Various business opportunities for exhibitors and private builders due to the trend towards “cocooning”.

The preparations for interbad 2021, which will be held in Stuttgart from 21 to 24 September 2021, are in full swing. The impressive new concept will bring together the complete range of private and public swimming baths, pools, water treatment and swimming pool technology on a total area of more than 35,000 square metres in the L-Bank Forum (Hall 1): 50 per cent of exhibitors have already firmly booked their stand for the trade fair in September next year. “In spite of the crisis relating to swimming pools, saunas, spas and wellness, we and our participants can see many interesting topics and also positive prospects,” said Dagmar Weise, Project Manager for interbad. “Although the industry is faced with enormous challenges, there are also opportunities which would probably not have arisen in this way without the corona pandemic.”

The restricted possibilities for leisure activities and holidays have led to a real boom in some areas. This year, there has been an enormous increase on the market of private investors and builders who are investing in wellness facilities, swimming pools and saunas. “The trend towards cocooning and new quality time outdoors will also play an important role in future. This provides business opportunities for our exhibitors who will meet visitors in Stuttgart with high purchasing power and a propensity to invest,” said Weise.

Huge upwards trend

Figures from the Federal Statistical Office show that sauna manufacturers, for example, recorded considerable increases both in their number of units and production value in the second quarter of 2020 compared with the previous year. The number of units and the production value rose by around 60 per cent and 21 per cent respectively compared with the previous year’s quarter.

As the trade fair with the world’s largest range of saunas, interbad will take account of this trend by staging the special show entitled the “Original Finnish Sauna Experience”. Together with the partner “Sauna from Finland”, this special show during interbad will provide visitors with an insight into the authentic Finnish sauna experience. Presentations and demonstrations will examine topics such as “Health effects of saunas”, “Nature and the sauna experience”, “Saunas as a global wellness trend”, and “Saunas and beauty”. Tips for a successful sauna business will also be given. Visitors will be able to test products and experience the special Finnish ambience in the Sauna Lounge. During the World Sauna Forum 2020, which will be staged as a virtual event on 3 and 4 December 2020, interested parties will be able to safely obtain an initial foretaste free of charge. Emphasis on safety

Messe Stuttgart has also made provision for the safety of its guests at interbad. The separately developed concept “Safe Expo – Safe for people. Good for the economy” of Messe Stuttgart contains extensive hygiene and space regulations. “Our objective is to stage a successful trade fair. A trade fair where we can welcome exhibitors and visitors from the areas of swimming pools, sauna and spas without any worries, and where profitable business contacts can also be established,” said interbad Project Manager Weise. “We actually have one of the most modern ventilation systems in the trade fair industry and feed fresh air into the exhibition halls at all times. We will also naturally help our exhibitors to plan their attendance at the trade fair in such a way that it is ideally adapted to the conditions.” Good prospects for the participants in interbad 2021, who will therefore be able to move around in safe surroundings.
